Today, members of three more AFSCME locals are celebrating the continuation of their voice on the job after voting to recertify their unions. AFSCME Local 929, Town of Surfside, voted 100% yes. AFSCME Local 2068, City of Opa-Locka, voted also voted unanimously for their union. And AFSCME Local 2293, City of Williston, voted nearly 80% in favor.

AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:

“While the goal of SB256 was to make workers too distracted, overburdened and spread too thin to retain their union, this has clearly proven to be untrue. Three more recertification elections and three more wins show AFSCME continues to stand for the respect and dignity of our members, while taxpayers continue to see their money wasted on this anti-worker crusade.”
