We are going to lose our Union if you don't act now

Brothers and Sisters,

Over the past few weeks, I have sent out multiple emails advising folks of the state of our Union and the newly mandatory state requirements regarding Union membership participation and the collection of membership dues.

Since my most recent email, which advised all Local 199 dues paying members that in order to keep the Union contract intact, including ALL benefits, we must convert to our newly required dues collection system, only 193 employees have signed on to the new system. We have nearly 4,000 dues paying members countywide. The state law requires that the Union has not only 60% as dues paying members but 60% on this new system.

At these numbers, we ARE NOT at 60%.

We will lose everything that you care about, and everything that your family requires if we don't achieve 60% sign up on our new system.

Click here for a full list of salary supplements by department and classification that will be lost if we don't convert to this new system.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE. YOU WILL BECOME AN AT WILL EMPLOYEE.

This is what is in store for you as an at will employee: click here.

Also, please see the Mayor's memo on reducing pay and benefits to non-bargaining employees here. (If your browser has formatting issues contact our union office for these documents).

We are at risk of losing everything this Union has fought for.

We will be at each site and geographical location in the coming days to sign up folks on UPAY. Please stay tuned for weekly notifications of where we will be next to sign folks up.
