An Important Announcement on Dues Payments

We are happy to share that, starting September 4, dues will be deducted on each Miami-Dade County pay date. While there will be no more monthly dues, you still choose your preferred method of payment (credit/debit card, or bank account). The biweekly dues of $24.75 will be deducted from your method of payment each pay date.

We hope this will help the dues payment process become smoother, because our recertification state with the State of Florida is coming quickly and we are NOT at the mandated 60% dues paying membership required by law.

This means we are at risk of losing everything our Union has fought for – seniority, paid holidays, birthday holiday, sick leave accrual, annual leave accrual, merit increases, cost of living adjustments, longevity bonuses, salary supplements, $43 biweekly flex pay, $70 biweekly special wage provision, healthcare, retirement, and so on.

This is NOT a joke. This is NOT Union propaganda. This is real. And you are facing the reality of becoming an AT-WILL employee.

This is because, without 60% membership, we have to hold another recertification election. And new state laws say if enough of us don’t vote we automatically lose, no matter how many vote to keep our contact.

Because some of our coworkers are not paying the dues our union uses to bargain and enforce our contract, we ALL are at risk of losing everything. This includes many coworkers who previously did pay dues and just have never signed up on the new system.

We must join NOW, or we lose our voices, our Union protections, and our Union contract guaranteed benefits. You can become a Union member by clicking here or call the Union office at (305) 805-1075.

And please join our monthly membership meeting on Zoom. There will be career altering information that will be shared, an update on the upcoming elections, the Amendment 3 Tax referendum ballot initiative that could cause massive budget cuts, a presentation from BENCOR, as well as a robust discussion on newly offered members only benefits that the local will now be providing. These new member benefits are:

  • Union members and relative(s) housing opportunity
  • Supplemental Insurance through Allstate
  • GLP-1 options for Union members
