Today, the civilian employees of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office voted overwhelmingly to retain AFSCME Local 199 as their voice on the job and in their future. The result of a mail-ballot election administered by Florida’s Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC) showed 90% voting AFSCME yes.

AFSCME Local 199 President Se'Adoreia Brown released the following statement:

“When anti-union special interests go after the rights of hardworking Floridians, they skip over sworn officers to protect their public relations efforts. But the employees who work side-by-side these officers are just as critical to the safety of our communities. AFSCME Local 199 never forgets their value to our communities, so we are proud that they will continue to have a voice at the bargaining table through AFSCME.”
