Today, members of AFSCME Local 199 wrapped up two days of voting conducted by Florida’s Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC). The County’s General Employees voted overwhelmingly to retain their union through AFSCME with 99% in favor of recertification.

AFSCME Local 199 President Se'Adoreia Brown released the following statement:

“Today’s results present a hard truth for the billionaire special interests who keep dictating to lawmakers in Tallahassee the anti-union legislation they must continue to pass. It shows that workers understand what is at stake and know that if they want to have a chance at the American Dream then they need a seat at the bargaining table. We are proud of this result and are ready to get back to what we do best – keep making Miami-Dade County happen every day.”
