AFSCME Florida Statement on Recertification Win at New College of Florida

Today the hardworking men and women represented by AFSCME at New College of Florida voted 91% in favor of recertifying their union. AFSCME Local 591 will continue to ensure these dedicated workers have a protected voice in the services they deliver for students, faculty and the community.

AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement: 

“These dedicated public service workers are the backbone of New College and they will continue to enjoy the benefits and protections of a union contract. Our state’s radical leadership continue their unprecedented attacks on the campus and curriculum, wasting enormous amounts in pursuit of their ideological goals. Through it all, these workers never quit on the campus they are proud to serve.”
