AFSCME Florida Statement on Recertification Win for City of Jacksonville

After two days of voting, the hardworking men and women of America’s largest city voted overwhelmingly to recertify their union voice and contract through AFSCME Local 1279 with 99% voting in favor.
AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:
“This result of this recertification election is no surprise to anyone who has been following the energy and activism of AFSCME members in Jacksonville. Less than a year after their last PERC election, they once again reaffirmed their support for a union voice. And they are showing it every day with their ongoing membership growth, their continued dedication to the communities they serve and their work to improve their jobs and benefits that’s to the very contract that was at stake in this election.”
